I can't tell a fib, I used my new programs to edit it, so I am showing the before and after so to give you an idea of just how powerful this particular program really is. This little girl is simply beautiful!!!

Photo of the Week~

I am thankful for so many things in my life. Today, I am thankful that I still have the home I love so very much. Life can change in a blink of an eye, and Eric and I have had so many blessings this past year that I, at times, become frightened. Frightened that no one can actually have it this good. I mean I am content, and from the life I lived in Las Vegas... content was never something I thought I would find, until I met my husband. Don't get me wrong, we have our issues just like any other family. A crazy ex-wife, a job that takes my husband away from me for years at a time, 3 dogs that drive me bonkers. But I would never go back to the life I lived before Eric for nothing in the world.
I moved my office after Eric built me my new studio. Because of this I had to have TW come over to install new jacks in the room for DSL and cable (I have to have my tv!). We walked out to the cable box and found this...

I cried... not at the look or the damage, but at the thought that there had been a fire in that box. Ironically enough Mr. fix-it man was just here from, well I wont say until the inspector arrives today, but he was in that box, numerous times. He was in my A/C heating unit as well. Yearly maintenance they call it. It don't like how this looks at all.
This is my fear of when my husband is deployed. How scary indeed! USAA is handling the claim, we are freezing and living on space heaters for now. I see a Hilton in my future. :)

God, thank you for allowing us to keep our home. Again, I am blessed in so many ways!!!

DUSTOFF 30th Reunion~

Sunday, February 22, 2009

The 30th Reunion of the DUSTOFF Association kicked off with their golf classic on Friday morning, with crystal blue skies, light winds and plenty of golfers to make for a real race for the prize. Saturday the festivities continued with morning meet & greets, meetings, a wives luncheon, a hospitality hour and the banquet dinner. Today was the final event, a memorial service for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice... themselves.
Whew! These folks must be worn out from all the events, I know we sure are!
Many friends met up again to share all of life's happenings over this past year. I met up at the wives luncheon, a wonderful group of women who were gracious enough to invite me to sit a moment and share a meal... which was AMAZING! Hotel Valencia, you have fabulous crab cakes!!! Many important people were in attendance at the banquet, including Generals and Colonels. It was rather intimidating to say the least. My husband showed me just how to hang with the big boys. I was even presented with my first coin from the Colonel himself! Pretty cool eh?
I pulled out some shots from a bit of everything to sum up the activities... enjoy!

Army DUSTOFF Golf Classic~

Saturday, February 21, 2009

I write about it almost monthly... how passionate I am about the charities that I am involved with. It just makes me feel alive and all tingly inside! Especially anything that is military related. And, although this was not for charity, this did come from a referal off a military charity event that I covered... so you see, good things happen when you give of yourself folks!
This Friday kicked off the 30 year reunion of the "DUSTOFF ASSOCIATION". The DUSTOFF Association are Army Air Evacuation units, you know those chopper/ Medvac guys. Men from as far back as the Vietnam War attended, wives too! :) We are still covering the event this afternoon and evening, but I had a break and wanted to post a few from the golf classic which took place yesterday morning. A big THANK YOU to my hubby for capturing some awesome shots today! I guess a golfer knows what shots to take?
The weather was beautiful, and everyone had a great time! Check it out...

My brides are a riot!!!

So, yesterday I met with my bride Nina and her husband Brandon. They come to me by way of San Antonio and the military (we love military families!). She is too funny for words!!!
She shows up for their family portraits with her wedding veil and hot pink sunglasses on?!?!?!!!!
I about died it was so cute...
You see, it was her "test" day for her hair and she wanted to come out for pictures right after wards. I was not aware that her veil was coming along for the ride! :)
Although this couple has already tied the knot, they are going back now and having an "official" ceremony... white dress and all. I can completely understand, since that is the same thing my husband and I did. Get married, and a year later re-new our vows on a cruise so I could "wear the white dress" that I was so insistent upon. It was so fun! In the military, you learn to roll with the punches, that's for sure!
While most images that were captured were of the children, I did manage to get some cute ones of the couple as well.
Here is a sneak preview...

Exciting new announcements...

Friday, February 20, 2009

DB Images has been speaking about all the new things in store for us in 2009. I just wasn't prepared I suppose? I wasn't prepared for my husband to be deployed, I wasn't prepared to bring in a new associate photographer, I wasn't prepared to book 16 weddings so far with barely an ounce of advertising... life is good indeed!
We are still waiting on our boom kits, light sets, ceiling rails... UPS man better hurry up because I'm so impatient! LOL!
But the office is ready and my newest programs just arrived today! I can't wait to install it and start to play around. A very wise and beautiful photographer by the name of Jasmine Star told me that Kubota was one of her favorite programs and she uses them almost exclusively... so I just knew I had to get it! Along with Totally Rad Actions and my new LensBaby, a girl could go nuts!~

In celebration of our new studio, we are hosting a "Studio Launch Party!"... March 25th, at 7pm at the new studio for all past, preset and future (we hope) brides to be to meet, greet, and talk all about the big day! I will have a guest speaker telling all about her wedding day experience (she has one heck of a story!), along with various vendors that I have worked with fairly consistently, lots of great food and drink, picture taking in the new studio, and my introduction of the newest member of DB Images Photography... I was very picky when it came to who I was willing to bring on board, and this woman has the goods! Plus, she is a military wife who contacted me about working together! Haven't I always said how very lucky I am to be so blessed!

So, keep watch on the BLOG for more announcements about the studio, the big event, and all things photography!

Studio almost finished!!!

Black and lime green with taupe... those are the colors of my fabulous new studio~
My ever so loving hubby worked his tail off the entire extended weekend just so I could have my studio ready for my first maternity session with Mrs. Sexton. I am so thrilled with how it looks so far... very modern and very hip!
I am proud to say that I watch way too much HGTV and ended up making my drapes and pillows to match, since I was not able to find ones that flowed with the theme. :)
Light kits with ceiling booms are on the way... I can't believe how beautiful it all looks!
Thank you my baby, you are so very good to me!
I love you so much!!!!!

Building our studio...

Monday, February 16, 2009

We are so excited! This weekend we spent working vigorously on our new studio... painting, laying the laminate flooring, picking out new art pieces and such. I just love it when I get to redecorate!
Eric worked his butt off getting the floors down and finished during his 3 day weekend, I am such a lucky girl to have such a hard working hubby! It looks amazing! Thank you baby for all you do to make me such a happy-happy woman!!!
Here are a few pics from our working weekend... can't wait to show everyone the finished product! :)

2009 Bride's Choice Awards presented by WeddingWire | Wedding Cakes, Wedding Venues, Wedding Photographers & More

WeddingWire, the nation’s leading wedding technology company, just announced that DB Images Photography has won the 2009 Bride’s Choice Awards™!

In its inaugural year, the Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This year’s recipients represent the top three percent of WeddingWire’s vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US. That means DB Images Photography is one of the very best of San Antonio photographers.

Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds through surveys and reviews.

“We are excited to launch this annual award program to honor high-performing vendors based solely on the experiences of our WeddingWire community,” according to Timothy Chi, WeddingWire’s Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s recipients have set the bar high, exhibiting excellent service and expertise in the wedding industry.”

DB Images Photography would like to thank our past clients for speaking on our behalf and helping us win the 2009 Bride’s Choice Award!

Priscilla & Jose are engaged!!!

"Let's go to the Rodeo"! Those were some of the first words I heard from my May bride Priscilla and her ever so accommodating husband to be Jose. And, I thought "Cool"!
I am ALL about the creative side of my images. Getting to know my clients on a personal level means everything to me. How else can I produce pictures that are unique to just those two?

So it was off to the Rodeo this morning for dollar day at the good old carnival. Priscilla and Jose showed up slamming in matching white and fuchsia pink! A great attitude and lots of smiles. What more could one as for?
We rode some rides, ate much too much junk food and had a great time! Hope you enjoy your images guys! Can't wait to get to the River Walk.
Here is a sneak peak...
