Trash the Dress~

Last evenning ABC/KSAT 12 ran my story on Trash the Dress and it was great! All except that Brian forgot to mention that it was DB Images Photography who they did the story on... OOPS! They did get my name mentioned in there somewhere, and they cut all the great things I had to say... BTW/ Yes, I know I look like crap! But I just had 3 surgeries less than a month ago and I'm still not 100%, and I had the flu! What a mess I am! LOL!!!

It Reads:

Deborah,
I watched the story last night and thought the same thing. Your name and your company name was supposed to be on the screen. As were the names of the artist and the bride.
The only thing I can think is that the system that puts graphics
on the screen went down or had some sort of trouble last night.
I apologize. It was supposed to be there. I wrote it. I didn't
want to waste story time to name people in the script, that's
why I made sure their names were to be on the screen when
they were talking. However, all best intentions.... I'll see if I can
get changes made to the internet version. And certainly if anyone calls, I'll refer them to you. Thanks again.

The Picasso Shoot~

Trash the dress... it surely is not for the faint at heart. I guess that's why it is quickly becoming one of my favorite things to shoot.
All my brides are fierce, strong, unique women all on their own. Which is probably why 3 of the last 5 brides I have photographed have finished off their wedding pictures, being artistic, original and daring by "trashing" their wedding gowns.
Today I was thrilled to see my bride Jolyn. It has been months, and us military wives always have so much to share. Jolyn came to me with the idea of painting her dress. I thought GREAT IDEA!!! Then I got to work! As all my brides can tell you... my shoots are all about them. From the moment that lens cap comes off and the first pose is captured I am "in my zone" and everyone around me can see it. Its infectious, and I love it!
When I tell my clients that their images will be unlike anything else they can imagine, I work my tail off making sure of just that. Nothing I hate more than looking at someones portfolio and seeing image after image of client after client taken at the same spots over and over again. Where is the creativity in that I ask you??? How boring~ (yawn! :))
I set out to find the perfect spot for this shoot that I have now affectionately named the "Picasso shoot" (don't ask me why?) I remembered driving past a private gallery/ studio a few weeks back. I was unsure of just what type of art was created in this gallery but I decided to stop in and say hello~
Inside this big, beautiful studio I fell in love. The beautiful light, the high ceilings... this (I said to myself) is where I want to be in a few years. Yes, once my hubby is out of the military and we can put down some roots I am opening my own studio. Around the corner walked a women that I just knew I was going to love. This... this is the woman I see myself as when I am settled. Confident, I catch her strength through our first hand shake. Successful, I see the massive creations through out her studio. An artist to the core, I see it in her eyes.
I pitched my concept, I thought she would just die! Her face, she looked mortified. Yes, like I said... this shoot is not for everyone. She took my card and said she would think about it. The next morning my phone rang, she was on board for this project, and on board she was. In one day she constructed an 5' x 6' canvas piece with a life sized image of Jolyn I had given her from our bridal shoot months back. It was AMAZING!!! I tell you, I work with some incredible people!
Our idea... the bride on the image comes to life. She is the art/ the art is she~
I have so many people to thank for the success of this shoot. First and foremost THANK YOU- THANK YOU Donna for not only the use of your beautiful studio space, but for the art piece, the paint, the time and effort. You are amazing!

Trash the Dress!!!

Picture this... it's late afternoon. A bride and groom celebrating their new union. The ceremony was moving, the reception... long. Now, as the sun sets on another glorious wedding day, the happy couple take a moment to be alone as they drive off into their future.
~
It's 4 hours later and on a back alley they find themselves lost. The engine is overheating and so is the groom. They get out to address the issue when things get hot, steamy... greasy???
By the time it is all said and done they are minus one white dress, one designer tux, and a whole lot of oil.
Thanks for the fabulous "Trash the Dress" session Crystal & Daniel. I couldn't imagine a better couple to go play with on a Sunday afternoon~

More Neon Boneyard Pics~

After spending the day behind a booth at the Bridal Fair, it was nice to come home to my husband and my slippers. It seems like now is the first moment I have had to breath since arriving home from our Vegas trip.
I think I am "over" tired at this point. All I do is toss and turn, so it is off to the computer I go to get some work done.
And while I can remember, I wanted to thank Dan from the boneyard for all his help in organizing and finalizing the shoot. Also, for carting a piece of my equipment all the way back to the Hilton the next morning after bonehead here left a crucial piece of my set up behind! Whew!!! You are the best!
The images from the Neon Boneyard shoot in Vegas are coming along great! I just have to post a few more...

Off to Vegas~

There was a lot of waiting and wondering going on in our home, as we watched Ike hit the coast of Texas late Friday. Though our friends to the east where hit and hit hard, San Antonio managed to escape the wrath of Ike and and we awoke on Saturday morning to clear, blue skies and calm air. Thank God! Because I was flying out to Vegas... and I absolutely hate to fly! Stormy skies would have made it a 2 cocktail flight for sure~

We hit the skies and made it into Vegas just before midnight. Just in time to check in and get some sleep, I have my bride I was meeting Sunday morning. Did I mention the TTD session I had set for Monday at the Neon Bone Yard? I can't wait! This young lady is a stunning woman. With jet black hair, and a look photographers dream of! This shoot is going to be amazing!!!

Let's just say that we are going to push the boundaries in the arena of artistic creation. This won't be for everyone... but then again?

Thus far our trip has been amazing. Can't wait to share more with you~~~
