It's our Anniversary~

Monday, November 9, 2009

With 2 years worth of weddings under our belt, my husband and I are excited to be celebrating our own Anniversary.
3 years ago today, Eric and I said our vows in downtown San Antonio, Texas in a ceremony of just us two at the county courthouse. It was one of those military things... where you rush off to tie the knot because Uncle Sam has your butt in a sling waiting and wondering just how long you're going to have to pull a real wedding off. For me, at 40, it was not such a huge thing to have that gala affair. But now, after 44 weddings photographed, it seems like E
ric and I robbed ourselves of that big bash. When friends and family come together to celebrate your new union.

As we plan an evening out for an intimate dinner with the play "The Full Monty" to follow, we talk of our plans for that event, here, in Europe. The church, the designer dress, the flowers from Holland, the food and the wine, in front of God... our friends and Lord willing, some family willing to make the trip, we hold fast to our dream of a that wedding after all come May 22, 2010 in Germany. My partner in crime, Mrs. Shelia Stone will serve as my best girl... and the oh-so-talented Clayton Austin will be capturing the event with his incredible vintage style photography. We are so thrilled!

Thank you Eric for being the man I waited 40 years for. For being that strength that never stops amazing me on a daily basis. For never giving up on me, on us... no matter what life (or the military) throws our way. For making all my dreams come true and for being a better man than I deserve. I love you, and I want the world to know it!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABY~

My friend with benefits...

Thursday, May 28, 2009

Get your mind out of that gutter, I know what you were thinking!
My friend with benefits would be my partner in crime Mrs. Shelia Stone of Shelia Stone Photography... and can I just tell you that she kicks some serious butt!
Two weeks ago we shot together again at Priscella and Jose's beautiful wedding ceremony. She has replaced my hubby as my second shooter since his departure to Germany. And once again, as I am going through her images from the event I am simply blown away. Her angles, her composition, her feelings from behind those images. Truly beautiful!

I can never thank the good Lord above enough for bringing you into my life Shelia. You are my blessing. I have learned so much from you in such a short period, from a stronger business plan, to how to deal with a client when nothing seems to make her happy. Your words of wisdom, kind heart, willingness to always help, and your fantastic work every time I find you behind that lens... I am going to hate to leave come December.

So, here's to great friendships, unselfish people, great listeners, fantastic photographs, years of fun... well, here's to YOU!!!

Just wanted to give you your own special post. You deserve so much more! Get ready again for this Saturdays wedding, 4 down, 18 more to go!

Here are some of what I love about this woman... check out these shots from the wedding.

Picture Package

I'm at my desk one early afternoon about 2 weeks ago... the phone rings. At first, when she mentioned the military, I thought it was another phone call for Operation Love ReUnite. I listened closely. But then she started talking about me, my business, and her photography. I listened even closer.
She spoke of Bahrain, Okinawa, and Texas... yes, what a combo! She spoke of her photography business, her equipment, her dreams, her WORKING WITH ME???!!!??? I was flattered, that out of all the photographers she had googled, blog stalked, etc. she chose DB Images to call.

So we decided to meet face to face, like an interview slash first date almost! It was fun! And we just clicked!
As the conversation grew into a full blown, all out free for all of topics... we had wondered where the time had went so quickly? By the luncheons end I had my new associate... Shelia Stone!

Her work is fierce, her attitude is dynamic, her sense of humor must be a little off because she just gets me and I can't say that about a whole lot of people anymore. She is a strong woman, a world traveler, a military wife, a mother, and now I am proud to call her my friend.

Welcome aboard Shelia! This weekends wedding was a blast to work with you. Can't wait until the shoot!
