Happy Birthday to my everything...

Saturday, June 23, 2012

My Grandmother was a wise woman indeed, often stating to me "Deborah Louise, the years will start to go by much more quickly as you grow older. Quit wishing your days away." She would make this statement after I babbled some bs about how I wished the summer would hurry up and come. Or I wished that school would hurry up and be over.

It seems that surely the years do seem to go by rather quickly as of late. I'm not sure if its the constant moving? Or if its just simply that grind, that daily grind we told ourselves we were never going to fall into?

My husbands and my birthdays are only weeks apart, so as fast as I turned the happy 46, he turned the happy 42 right behind me. Yes ladies, I snagged a younger man. Don't hate. :) Today was his birthday, and since once again I asked "What would you like for your birthday baby?" and once again he replied "Nothing baby, I'm good." I insisted that he buy himself something that he really wants for a change. Something that maybe we can do together as well? So he did... he went and bought himself a new gun. He went to meet with the people at the range this morning and had a great time. I'm next!

Me... I spent the day making him a cake. Not just any old cake mind you. I could have just gone and purchased some Carvel Ice Cream Cake (Which is my absolute favorite btw) or I could have had our local bakery make one. But no... little over achiever me. Little Miss Susie Homemaker just had to go and tackle a fondant cake with a figure on top!!!

I told him that he has been such a good boy this year that I got him a cute little blonde with a huge rack to jump out of a cake for him!!!!

Tee-hee-hee!!!!!

(Side note: This was NO easy task! Now I understand the talent that goes into cake decorating done right!)

MMMmmmmmm, cake! How about pastries of any kind? Yes, I must say I have a weakness for all things sweet, and if they come in a pretty package to boot, then I am so there!
So, make your way down Walzem, just past the 35, and just before Austin Hwy. There, you will find a pretty pink cake shop named "SUGAR HILL BAKERY". Local brides voted, and rated Sugar Hill "The Knot Best of Weddings 2008", which is huge! But don't go in there hungry because just the aroma from the parking lot will make you salivate!!!
I love them... young, beautiful, successful women with huge hearts and even bigger smiles. The first time I met Teresa and Deanna I was with Mrs. Houle (my business partner, and owner of Trinity Wedding S
olutions). Sugar Hill had just signed on with us to become our exclusive cake shop. I walked in and was welcomed by, not only the biggest, but the best hug I have been given in a very long time. You know the kind... strong, meaningful hugs. I felt at home right away!
We all sat and talked for awhile. Set out business plans and such.
Now, things are in for
ward motion. So, I took some time today to go say hi to my new friends and to take some shots of their incredible work.
Next time you are in
the area, and even if you are not. Just make the drive... it is SO worth it!!! They can do it all, I have seen for myself! Whew!!! No request is too over the top or too modest. Anything from cakes, to pastries, to gifts for that favorite someone. Yummy! What are you waiting for!!!
Teresa & Deanna... I hope you like the pictures!

ARE YOU HUNGRY YET???!!!

And the two become one...

It was a spectacular wedding for Jolyn and Domeas
as they exchanged vows at the Alamo Plaza in downtown San Antonio. With the Alamo behind them and the whole world in front of them, they were joined by family, friends and onlookers abound while they said "I Do" under the gazebo, then made their way towards the reception site accompanied by a trio of maraichi players. People cheered as the beautiful couple strolled through the streets of San Antonio... it was so much fun!
A room filled with the rich colors of burnt orange and red, fabulous food and a cake to die for is what awaited the new couple.
I cannot say enough about these two, very in love people! They were a pleasure to work with and I look forward to a long relationship with them as they reach new milestones in their life. Maybe a maternity session? Hehehehe!!!!

Congratulations you two! And may God bless your lives together!!!
