Shining like Crystal...

Tuesday, April 29, 2008

What can I say about my bride Crystal? Besides, sweet, quiet, beautiful, great laugh and one of the most gentle personalities that I have met in a long time. So very appreciative of everything DB Images has done for her thus far. But, this woman deserves the utmost, so we deliver!
After our first meeting back months ago I was so excited to have complete creative control over locations, image selections, etc... That's when it gets fun! Her and her fiance' Daniel were great sports as I dragged them from one side of downtown S.A. to the other in search of the "sweet" spot during their engagement shoot. Using bold ideas and high contrast, they loved their engagement images.
Now, it's all about the bride. I wanted her bridals to be a little softer, showcasing her beauty. But, you know I just had to take some artsy pictures along the way too... I just couldn't help myself!
Thanks again Crystal! Can't wait for that May wedding!!!

Here are a few teasers from our session...

For fun we started our session at the amusement park... too cute!
Special thanks to Bob at Kiddie Park for keeping the park open after hours for us so we could shoot.
If you have kids 12 or under, this is a fun place... with rides, games and laughs galore. Next time you are down on Broadway give him a shout, and tell him DB Images says hi!!!

Every now and again while I am shooting I capture an image that was a complete accident that turns into shear art. These two images are an example of just that. I placed Crystal under a stone bridge with direct overhead light. Apparently the green hues from the plants surrounding us came across to the cameras eye, but not the human eye.
I knew it when I took it that it was wild, haunting, and fabulous!!!

Melissa & Zach get hitched!!!

Sunday, April 27, 2008

It's official! The United States Marines just got themselves another military wife... whoo-hoo!!!
After a very stormy night and a rough go at it after the visit to the salon, the rest of the day couldn't have turned out more beautiful! Friends from near and far came to San Antonio during Fiesta week to celebrate the marriage of Melissa and Zachary on Saturday afternoon.

Red and yellow festive colors filled the Mexican Cristian Church as vows were exchanged under a golden hued room. It was magical and you could just feel the electricity between this couple. WOW!

You may remember this bride from our fabulous bridal session last week?
After the ceremony, everyone headed off to the brides aunts home for a backyard reception. The weather was fabulous, the cake was yummy and the family... couldn't be more sweet!
I have over 2k images to edit through, and just like her bridals... they are all just incredible!

Take a peek!!!

Sharon & Martin are married!!!

Saturday, April 19, 2008

It was a beautiful evening after a day filled with high winds and rain. A cool breeze was in the air along with plenty of excitement as friends and family gathered for the wedding of Sharon & Martin.
An intimate affair with all guests being the guest of honor. The children played in the leaves as the couple prepared for their walk down the aisle set for just at sunset. A cute little hide out cleverly named boo-boo's bungalow was the gathering place for the wedding party to prepare, making it hard to keep the groom from seeing his bride before the ceremony. One close call... but he never did see her until she started her walk down the aisle!
We all had a great time a few weeks back during their engagement shoot in New Braunfels. Now... it's wedding day!
Non-traditional was the bride as she wore a beautiful black gown with white accent and veil, I love a non-conformist! The brides maids also wore black tea length dresses, while the groom and his best men wore black western tuxedos. Complete with bolero, duster, black hats and cowboy boots... fabulous!!!
As the sunset, the golden glow was priceless for picture taking as they exchanged vows as the sun slowly disappeared behind the mountain side of Canyon Lake.
Afterwards, the party continued inside boo-boo's bungalow and all had a rootin'-tootin' time! Only thing missing was a horse! LOL!!!
Thanks Sharon and Martin for some great pictures and a grand time!
To give you an idea of just how down to earth and fun loving this family is, just take a look at some of these images...

Always good to know that the best man has that ring!

Zach, not wanting his picture taken, again...!

Nothing like a jug of home-made lemonade after a long days work!!! Yummy!!!

Picture is worth a thousand words...

I have worked furiously on the bridal portraits for Melissa, being sure that she has many to choose from for her reception. I absolutely love-love-love the pictures, and the more I edit, the more I get creative.
So, now I am busy preparing for my first Friday night wedding... congrats Sharon and Martin. I am sure it will be a hollerin' good time!!!

Meanwhile, here are a few more pics from Melissa...

I absolutely love this image!

Bride in the Botanical Garden...

Saturday, April 12, 2008

After 2 months of waiting, I finally met my bride from Dallas with so much style it nearly melted my camera! I just knew from the first conversation that this woman and I were going to get along just great! She's a modern gal, with the style of Jackie 'O', and the looks to match!!! Boy did she make our time together this morning a sheer pleasure.
Dressed in a champagne designer gown dripping in tulle and jewels she was ready to play. I had been waiting weeks to get a peek at her blue jeweled shoes with the antique broach... to die for! Carrie Bradshaw has nothing on this girl.

We headed out to the Botanical Gardens, drawing a crowd at every turn. I laugh... if they could only see what I was capturing through that lens.
This bride is full of style, class, humor.. and she is a complete doll on top of all that! I can't wait for the wedding in two weeks. I wonder what she has in store for me!
Thanks Melissa for making my job so easy!
Here is a sneak peek at some of my favorite shots...

My Husband actually took this next shot... I thought it was cute!

And finally, those fabulous shoes...
