Seminars in London & Italy!!!

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

A photographer, like any other professional, needs to be consistent with product production. Keeping your techniques sharp and your shooting fresh is essential. To aid in this, I make it a point to mark on my calendar the seminars which I would like to attend. Some of my favorite photographers like Jasmine Star or Kevin Kubota hold seminars regularly, and there are two that I will be working on attending coming in 2010.

The first will be SWPP (Society of Wedding & Portrait Professionals) in London!!! This event will be held January 14-15, 2010 and will be a wonderful opportunity to network with some photographers in Europe.

The next will be Kubota Secret Italy. I am still waiting for the final word, but the dates are May 2-8, 2010.

Nothing is better than a great workshop... put it in the middle of Europe, that's even better!

Precious Moments...

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

On my 43 birthday (back in May) I was the guest at Pamela and Eli's wedding... I was also their photographer.

It was a magical day at the St. Anthonys Hotel in downtown. A rooftop ceremony followed by cocktails in Peacock Alley and a reception in an amazing hall. Trees literally grew from the center of the tables and candles and crystals dripped from the branches. I had a wonderful!

I am going through all my images, organizing files for the big move to Europe, I found some of these beautiful preparation images and I wanted to share from Shelia and me.

Thanks for the wonderful day Pam & Eli! And congrats on the baby!!!! :)

The Dog days of summer...

Monday, July 27, 2009

Today I was at our fence talking with my neighbor JoAnn like I have so many times over these last 3 years. It made me sad to think that in just 8 weeks she will be doing the same with a new neighbor. But life moves on and we will be forever friends... we are Army Wives! But, just as I was feeling all blue along comes Deuce. Deuce is Deans dog, Dean is JoAnn's hubby.

Deuce is a HUGE boxer~ He is strong, and muscular, and the biggest pile of love imaginable. He is the bomb!!! And he loves-loves-loves the sprinkler when you turn it up! So the water flowed and Deuce played like a big kid, it was so fun to watch! So, of course I grabbed the camera and snapped a few off.

Thanks Deuce, I loved the show~

And surely one crazy face pic!

And please don't send me any hate mail about the water restrictions we are in right now... it was only 3 minutes and I think if an animal is going to be outide in 100*+ weather then he deserves to be wet for a moment... Wink~

DB Images bride featured in San Antonio Weddings!!!

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

My bride Laura... she was beautiful! Her ceremony was a classy combination of rich colors, delicate details, and a family full of love. I was the lucky one who was given the opportunity to witness this whole event and capture it forever!

The best part of this job is the bonds I have with my brides. They become like little sisters to me and I have yet to not cry at any of their weddings. All for different reasons, but it is a wonderful feeling to be that emotional behind the lens. And sometimes, some really fun and cool things happen because of those relationships.

Denise Marcos from San Antonio Wedding Magazine contacted me about a week ago in regards to Mrs. Laura Dixon and her wedding back in May at the Bushnell. Jennifer Nahoum is featuring Laura and Alex' wedding story and they need my images! I was all too happy to give them up!

Here is the article, from the rotation on their website! The article was wonderful! Loving the images!!!!! How fun!!!!

A New Chapter~

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

Life moves right along... as I slowly begin to makes steps towards Europe I can't help but feel nostalgic. This was our first home together. This is where he asked me to be his wife. This is where we lost 2 children, where we had 2 litters of puppies, where I began a relationship with my mother again, where I learned how to be am Army Wife, where we started this business, and this is where we planned our future and struggled with the past. I can't imagine leaving here.

Today the final paperwork was signed by me and the ERA For Sale sign went up in our yard. Its real now. Only 11 weeks and counting until I see my husband again and start this new chapter in my life. I am so excited to see Europe. To live in the mountains of Germany and travel to Paris on the weekends. It could be so much worse eh? :)

I sit here in my office and look out the window down onto that red and blue sign. Its been a great 3 years... I'll sure miss it here~

Audrey & Corey are Married~

It was a beautiful Friday evening. As the guests filled the church I sat with the bride as she started her makeup seated in her sundress and veil... hair perfectly curled. She was stunning and mysteriously calm. As if she had a secret only she knew. Maybe her secret was something as simple as the security she has in her love of the lord and the love for the man she will soon call her husband.

This couple struck my heart from day one. They sat in my office and spoke of the big day with a different kind of enthusiasm than I usually see. I still can't explain it to this day, but it was amazing. They are so in love. So respectful. Such the perfect example of what, if there is such a thing, what a soul mate should look like.

The church was dipped in blues and plums with only the effects of lighting and a simple alter backdrop allowing only those on the stage to be just that... center stage. An 18 member bridal party arched around the couple as they exchanged vows they wrote. I could hear the tears in the air.

At their conclusion Audrey was passed the microphone and belted out a song to Corey that caused me to constantly remind myself to keep taking pictures. The woman in the pew next to where I was kneeling asked if I needed a Kleenex. She was breathtaking. And it was a complete surprise to her new husband choreographed solely by the bride herself.

Guests joined the bride and groom for a penthouse floor reception as the sun quietly set to a golden glow. The food was delicious, cake was funky and fun, and the dancing was hysterical! Michael Jacksons Thriller played as guests mimic the moves of the King of Pop...

Thank you Audrey and Corey for being a "dream" client whose love story was a honor to experience.

Life changes on a dime~

Monday, July 6, 2009

The breath of your loved one on your cheek, their voice when they call your name, a cool summers night, a cup of cocoa by a fire in winter, family, friends. Life is filled with an abundance of splendid moments, all we have to do is soak it all in. Breath it all in.

These past few weeks have been filled with tragic losses. I thought it only seemed to be hitting the famous... Farrah, Michael, Ed, Billy. Then, last week another loss comes. And this time it hits home for me.

My partner Shelia tragically lost her brother. I cannot image what this spiritual, humble, beautiful friend is going through at this time in her life. She, like myself, is a military wife. Her husband is stationed in Bahrain. I have not spoke with her in days and hope that he has made it back to be by her side and pray each morning that this day is better than her last.

For all my clients past, preset, or future I ask for your prayers to her and her family in this time of need. She is an amazing woman. I am proud to call her my friend... you would be too.

God Bless you Shelia~
