Pre-Raphaelite Photo Shoot / The Painting Comes to Life...

Monday, October 15, 2012

For weeks now, myself and 2 friends have been working endlessly on an upcoming stylized photo shoot titled:

"Pre-Raphealite, The paintings come to life..."

The 3 of us sewed, and hot glue gunned, and bedazzled, and teased, etc. etc. etc. for hours on end, creating just that perfect look we envisioned.  When the day finally arrived it couldn't have been more perfect!

The sun was hiding behind the perfect coverage of clouds giving us natural light that most photographers live for. The breeze was soft and from the West which also worked perfect for the location. And ah yes, that location! Found only 24 hours prior, causing a last minute change of plans on venues, but SO worth it!!! Bridges, clear streams, old buildings, amazingly lush vegetation. I couldn't have asked for a better spot. Thank you Marianne for the location suggestion!!!

Was it ever perfect! With lush green plants in every shade of green imaginable. Plants that were so bright, even in the shade, that it looked like God was pin lighting each leaf just for us. The stream was barely moving and so crystal clear that the images that I have next to the water looks like the plain earth below because you can see straight through it.

Simply beautiful!!!

Thank you to Amy Schaming and Tyson Keanum for working so well as a team, contributing countless hours and $, and for those Starbucks runs!!! Your work is so fierce. I am so excited that we all met and are now collaborating on so many new projects. I  needed people like you in my life!!!

And thank you to our models Miss Jennifer Boatwright, and Miss Racheal Koprowski for braving duck taped skin, safety pin pricks, make up applications, hair teasing, flying bugs, and a very cool stream, just to get that perfect shot!!!!

It was a pleasure...

The richness of Autumn and a wedding dress...

Friday, October 12, 2012

I loved photographing this model out by Lake Carolina last night. So much so that I am already figuring out which shoot I would like to use her in next.

I went through more photographs from our 30 minute, rush hour shoot last night and edited 3 of them with a rose tint with an autumn undertone. The others I just played around with. Love to play with the colors of the season!!!

I really like the outcome...

Steampunk Mini Top Hat...

Tuesday, October 9, 2012

I just finished up another Mini Top Hat that I made to go with my new Halloween costume (yes, I have changed my mind yet again!!!) and I really like the way it has turned out. I will be adding some gears and watch parts to the center ribbon I think, so it will match my husbands. But all in all I love it, and I think Eric and I are going to look really great at this party. )

I also took a few images of the "MINI" Mini Top Hat that I made for my friend Shelia, who is expecting her second daughter any day now. I made her big sister one to match as well. Now they both have one to wear for their photo shoot!

Did you know we do Bridals?

Friday, April 20, 2012

Did you know that Deborah Berard Photography started as solely a wedding photography company? While in San Antonio Texas we built our brand into one of the areas top wedding photographers. With an ABC Feature story, numerous magazine features and a couple of local charity events put us on the map and on it quick!

Now that we have come back to the states we have made our new home in South Carolina and opened our dream boudoir studio. Boudoir, fashion, stylized shoots... THOSE are the shoots that get me going. I love it, but I miss the bridal and engagement portrait side of weddings. So now, after much back and forth, we have decided to add bridal and engagement portraits back into our line up. That also includes the ever famous "ROCK THE DRESS" shoot.

And we are NOT your run of the mill type of portrait photographer. I will NOT be standing you in a field with your bouquet in your lap while you gaze over your shoulder. Nope, that's just not us. So if you want to go ride a carousel, roll in the mud, stand on a post in the middle of the street... we can do that!!!

In fact, we already have... grease1 bridefilm2 film1b film1b2

The Black Swan Loft...

Friday, March 23, 2012

Being a military spouse is not an easy deal. I knew these women were tough, but I never knew just how tough until I became one. PCS'ing, TDY's, Deployments... is was all so new to me and it was not an easy adjustment. I spent the last 2 1/2 years in Europe, which for most I assume would be an amazing thing. But it was so hard on me, sitting at home with only 10 channels of tv, 4 ft of snow more months than I care to remember, and sun that only came out from 9am until 4pm 5 months out of the year! Who lives like that??? I couldn't wait to come back to the states and get back to working.

Shortly after we arrived back in the states, my husband came to me with the proposition of retirement. We speak about everything together, and make all family decisions together, so he wanted to know my thoughts. I had all to do to hold my excitement inside. After all, this man has made a life out of being a soldier, and I don't want him to ever make a decision about his career based on me. I'll wait for my day, because when it comes I know that my husband will be just as loyal to my dreams.

And so she was born. What is now affectionately known as The Black Swan Loft. Deborah Berard Photography's new loft studio is just about complete. Minus 2 chandeliers and a little paint. Maybe some odds & ends as well? But all in all I felt she was ready for her reveal. She had been a bachelor pad for 2 years prior to me, and believe me when I tell you that it took about the entire first week of being in there to get the BOY smell to go away! LOL!

But in this moment of excitement, I want to also take this moment to publicly thank my husband Eric for all he has done to help me get this studio ready. From cart roller, to box shredder, to driver, to IT wiz, to banker, to cheerleader... this man can do it all. And I love him so very much! Thank you baby for your belief in me. For backing this dream, and for not yelling at me too much. LOL!

The dream has consumed me for years. The vision that I was once told by a fellow photographer that "I had given up on." The desire to create something unlike anything Columbia has ever seen in regards to boudoir photography. In this studio my desires is to show women the way back to sexy. To show women that they are amazing creatures, and should be pampered and adored. Where for one complete day she gets to be catered to. No phones, no kids, no job stress... just to be.

Isn't it time you came to be...
