A much needed vacation~

Saturday, September 27, 2008

At this moment I am at my desk, checking and sending what will be the last in an ever growing pile of emails, not that I am complaining by no means. All my clients are finished, others are all scheduled upon our return.
A week in the Caribbean is just what the Dr. ordered to relieve stress and get back to center. I promise
d my husband that I wouldn't go crazy this time... with the picture taking, the packing, the stressing. So far I am 2 for three... (only because my camera is packed now).
As for the packing, I think I did great this time. Only one large and one carry on. That sure is better than the one single piece I had last year just for my shoes and baubles alone!!! 2 others for all my clothes! Ouch... But I am a self professed "shoe gal", so its an addiction and I can't help myself sometimes! Yes, I am sticking to that story! :)

Are they not beautiful!

As far as the stressing goes, it mainly comes from the thought of leaving my precious Tiffany in a kennel again. But, she was so pampered the last time that I am sure she will enjoy herself again. Oh, a big hello to the ladies down at Four Paws Inn, Converse for all they do and the great care they take of my baby!!!
So, I will try to blog from the ship... if I can sneak away from the hubby for awhile or he will throw my camera overboard, I swear! :)

Have a great week everyone and I will see you soon!!!~

A model in the making...

Thursday, September 25, 2008

So, last week while I was in Vegas, my phone buzzed. And by the time I arrived home, that same caller had left another message. It was my friend Nancy, and it was such a great surprise!
I met Nancy the afternoon I photographed the ribbon cutting for River Walk Publishing, where she was the mistress of ceremonies. She was stunning! I couldn't keep my eyes off of her and I felt no shame. But everywhere I have been since with this woman, the reaction is always the same as mine... stunning.
Then, when you meet her and get to know her you will find out that she is amazing to boot. Extremely well educated, serious career background, wonderful husband and a beautiful family, and genuinely nice to you. In fact, if you are looking for a new Mary Kay representative, or a speaker for your next ceremony then you simply must give Mrs. Nancy a call~
Ok, so she needed pictures. She wanted a set of modeling images for her portfolio. Isn't she lucky that she knew a photographer~!
I met her downtown at one of my favorite spots where we made three wardrobe changes and blew out over 150 images in about one hour. Talk about a great client! On time, pleasant as always, and all business once my camera came out.
Here you go Nancy. I know there are a lot here, but I couldn't narrow it down any further... Oh, and I am snagging your boot coverage idea (you know what I mean!) LOL!!! Too funny!

Enjoying our morning...

I have two shoots today... so I just know it is going to be a great day! But first, I decided to get up early and take my dog for a drive in what has become her new favorite spot (besides her daddy's lap). It happens to be the back of my new car!

(Yes, that is my company logo on the dash screen... I can even throw in my card from my camera and show my clients their images right there if I want! Too cool eh?!?)

Since I lived in Las Vegas, I had always taken Tiffany out for a drive on the weekend. I would make a whole production out of it. Yes, she would have to wear her seat belt (I had a convertible and continually had a horrible vision of her flying out of the top!!!) Then, she would wear her goggles, because she is oh so fashion conscience (and the vet insisted so to protect her eyes from the wind.) We would drive up to Red Rock, Zion or Mnt. Charleston and she would just love it!
In my Firebird she was not allowed, so she never went bye-bye again. Now, I have decided that my beautiful sportscar in not cutting it when it comes to hauling around camera equipment and clients. So, I bought a new car!
And although SUV's are getting such a bad wrap
because of our nations fuel issues... you sure can get a hell of a deal from the dealerships right now! They can't give them away... so I just stole it! LOL!!! Had to stay American though... so now my garage has a beautiful new Chrysler Aspen in it! Yes, next to my Firebird. Are you kidding, I couldn't sell her! :(

So, back to my story. I took Tiffany out for a drive in her new truck. She has her own area now. WIth a pad, a seatbelt, and her own a/c vents! Such a spoiled dog!!!
She loved the sun, and the air, and... well, m
e!
Here are a few images of my baby girl.

BTW... if you see me out on the road. Honk, and day hello!!! You'll know me by the DBFOTO plate!

TIFFANY says... "Have a great day!!!"

More Neon Boneyard Pics~

Monday, September 22, 2008

After spending the day behind a booth at the Bridal Fair, it was nice to come home to my husband and my slippers. It seems like now is the first moment I have had to breath since arriving home from our Vegas trip.
I think I am "over" tired
at this point. All I do is toss and turn, so it is off to the computer I go to get some work done.
And while I can remember, I wanted to thank Dan from the boneyard for all his help in organizing and finalizing the shoot. Also, for carting a piece of my equipment all the way back to the Hilton the next morning after bonehead here left a crucial piece of my set up behind! Whew!!! You are the best!
The images from the Neon Boneyard
shoot in Vegas are coming along great! I just have to post a few more...

Under the Neon Lights of Freemont Street, Las Vegas~

Sunday, September 21, 2008

When you are given a chance to play around with lighting or subject matter... that is when an artist is truly happy. When you have subjects that are begging you to push the limits... you just want to shoot for as long as you can.
Take this trip to Vegas. It started out as a TTD session and turned into a second shoot with
the girls down on Freemont Street.
After ditching the security guards, we found an abandoned stage with one single spotlight casting a ghostly glow. The neon in the background didn't hurt the shot either.
Oh, downtown... so much
has changed. One thing remains true, one of the best light shows in town. As a photographer who wants to be known for an edgy style, subjects like these two are so much fun to work with!
Monique and Kara asked
for blown out images that were funky, risque, and a slight step outside their comfort zones. They loved what we created!
Take a look~
